Given its price tag, no one could blame you for expecting nvNotes to be a bit more garish or a bit more ‘in your face’ when it comes to showing off why it’s worth $9.99. In reality though, its strength lay in its understated wonder. It’s a note taking app that offers you exactly what you could want in a clear and concise manner. For those who regularly take notes on their iOS device, it’ll soon be an essential tool.

A quick tutorial guides you through the paces, but it’s all pretty intuitive. Hit the pencil icon to create a new note then get typing. You can choose to just type in plain text or you can start applying things such as bold or underline, all through the markdown options available. nvNotes also offers an URL scheme, saving you effort and adding a form of hyperlinking to the mix. It’s not needed for some users, but it’s handy that it’s there.

Where nvNotes starts to stand out even more is with the details. You can view word and character counts easily. You can also check out how many nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives have been used in your writing. It’s a neat little feature and really quite clever.

On a more practical note, nvNotes also offers extensive tagging and search features, so you’re not going to get lost when you’ve created many, many notes. There's Dropbox integration too.

It’s that steady stream of small yet useful features that ensure that nvNotes is a cut above the rest. It’s a little expensive compared to other options, but its class is quite easy to see. Much like how iA Writer’s strength is in its simplicity, you’ll soon wonder how you survived without nvNotes. It makes things a breeze.
