As Juliet once said out on her balcony: "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

And she may have had a point - it's not the name that maketh the man. But in the cutthroat world of slither.io, it can't hurt to use everything to your advantage.

So here's a few tips on how to give yourself the most badass name possible, while being thematically appropriate. You know, to instil fear and raise a smile on the faces of your enemies.

Real snakes

In reality, snakes are pretty terrifying. Sure, they might look adorable in slither.io, but in the real world the slimy little buggers will bite you faster than you can say "oh look a snake."

So take inspiration from reality and give your snake a real world name. For bonus points, use the Latin name so your opponents run off to look it up while you encircle them.

For example, "Tiger Snake" sounds sinister enough, but "Notechis Scutatus" sounds horrifying in ways you can't quite comprehend.

Fake snakes

Think of a badass named Snake and your mind will probably jump to Solid Snake, from the Metal Gear Solid games. That's good, but we can do better.

There's Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake, and Naked Snake to choose from too, or you can go with Big Boss if you want to go deep with the reference.

Feeling clever? Go with Snake's alias, Iroquois Pliskin. Which is in reference to Snake Plissken, Kurt Russell's character in Escape from New York.

Hell, just call yourself Kurt Russell. That'll mess with people's heads.

Pure aggression

Want people to just leave you alone? Tell them.

The character limit is surprisingly generous, so you can get away with "I Will Murder You" if you so desire.
