Oxenfree is one of those can't-miss indies. What starts out as a night of teenage mischief on an island in the Pacific northwest quickly takes a turn for the weird when you open a doorway to an alternate dimension. It's a masterfully told story of both friendship and bizarre metaphysics. The story has endless branching paths for you to wander down, the tiniest of choices affecting how things resolve in the end.



This War of Mine

This War of Mine is a game for the times we live in, surely. Rather than fighting as a superpowered soldier, you instead take on the role of a civilian in a besieged city. You must protect the children and maintain food resources, all why staying safe from the violence that engulfs you. It's a sobering and sensitive take on an important topic.



Party Hard Go

For a complete toneshift, let's move on to Party Hard Go. Your goal is to put a stop to an obnoxious party ruining your sleep. Eschewing traditional means of solving the problem like, say, calling the cops, you resort to cold-blooded murder. That can take many forms in this game, especially as you can't get caught. That means picking people off one by one with poison or other devious means, before dancing into the crowd to shrug off suspicion.
