Before there was Stranger Things, there was Oxenfree, gaming's very own supernatural cult thriller. If you missed out when the game arrived on Steam, fear not. You'll now have a second chance to experience the sci-fi spookiness, as the game's just launched on iOS. It's apt timing since the App Store has been celebrating indie games over the past few days.

Oxenfree places you in the shoes of Alex, who ferries over to the Edward Island, a mysterious, foggy place set in the pacific-northwest. You and your friends gather for a night of typical teenage shenanigans. As you might guess, things don't go according to plan. You somehow manage to open a portal to an alternate dimension by tuning in to a bizarre radio frequency, and things only get weirder after that.

For all of its creepiness, it's a wonderful story with some excellent characterization and tough choices. You'll have to choose from a number of ambiguous dialogue options that can have serious impacts on your relationships and even your fate. Oxenfreewas easily one of the finest indie games of 2016. It was even nominated for a BAFTA for best narrative and debut game. Not too shabby if you ask me.
