The Chatter Buddies emergent literacy app is designed to make it fun for children to develop good listening and speaking skills as a precursor to reading and writing. It is specifically targeted towards enhancing phonological awareness, and developing early oral language and literacy skills from a unique speech language pathology perspective.
The Chatter Buddies "Hear, Speak, Read Literacy Program" was created by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, Chatter Buddies is a one-of-a-kind educational program designed to deliver emergent literacy instruction to preschool children through lovable characters and original songs that capture a child’s attention and engagement. Listening and speaking are the foundations for literacy development. Chatter Buddies focuses on the proven fact that reading begins with the spoken word - not the written word. Humans all over the world learn a language by first HEARING that language, then SPEAKING that language, and finally, READING and WRITING that language. Chatter Buddies encapsulates what every speech therapist knows — a child must HEAR and SPEAK a sound correctly before that child will be able to READ or WRITE that sound.
Chatter Buddies’ debut educational series, “Ready for Speech,” presents a solid foundation for reading success through important ear-training that enables the preschool child to hear and speak sounds correctly and use them to make meaningful differences. Complete with a preschool classroom, a teacher, and students who model the formal language and conduct of school, children will experience the fun of preschool while learning the aural (hearing) and oral (speaking) skills that are essential for reading success.
