App Description
In Mayday 1966, during the town's annual festival, there's a horrible accident in the mine, (caused by lax safety standards, a mad rush to fulfill a particularly critical order, and possibly a disgruntled employee poisoning the owner's coffee, I am a little unsure of that bit) which takes the lives of 23 miners including Jean's father. Thomas' father finds himself unemployed, and his depression and alcoholism worsens. He eventually falls down the stairs when drunk and is killed. Thomas is taken away to an orphanage, grows to adulthood, returns to Pinwheel, marries Jean, travels the world, then settles down in Arizona where Jean works as a teacher and they have a son, Jim. Years later, Thomas develops dementia, and moves back to Pinwheel with Jean, as they can't afford proper care in America. After Jean dies, Thomas admits himself to a care home, where he is treated by Phyllis. Jim, concerned for his father's well-being, follows him to England and eventually, after Phyllis' successful therapy, takes him out of the home and takes over his care.
