Whether you’re already a bird watcher in the UK, or if you want to take up birdwatching for the first time, this app will help you get the most from your hobby.
In it, we take you through the basics of birdwatching, step-by-step. Through each of our modules we will explain birdwatching jargon, tell you exactly what kit you’ll need to get started and help you identify and enjoy birds for yourself.
Included in the app are:
•Guides to different habitats you’ll find in the UK
•Tips on the timing of your birdwatching expeditions
•Bird song guides – pictures of the birds you’re likely to find in the UK and the ability to listen to their unique, identifying songs
•Instruction on how to make the most of the weather, whatever it may throw at you
We reveal simple ways to tell confusingly similar species apart, provide great photography and advice on getting your own bird pics, and tell you how to get the best value for money when buying optics and other equipment.
In short, everything you’ve come to expect from the Bird Watching Magazine team has been reformatted here, especially for the iPad.

•Module One: How To Watch Birds
This module looks at how to get started in birdwatching, and will explain why it’s possible to see scores of species you didn’t even suspect were there, without going more than a dozen miles from home
•Module Two: Where To Watch Birds
Once you’ve caught the birdwatching bug, you’ll want to look a little further afield – this module will help you find the best birding sites in Britain and further afield, and the iconic birds that live there

•Module Three: How To Buy Birding Optics
There’s a bewildering array of binoculars and spotting scopes out there, costing from £50 to £3,000, but this module will help you find the perfect optics for your birdwatching needs by showing you how to test them, and includes comprehensive technical specifications of everything available on the UK market
