Where and how to capture exciting wildlife images in Everglades National Park!

Everglades National Park protects the last great subtropical wilderness in the continental U.S. Within its boundaries are more than 350 species of birds, 300 species of fresh and saltwater fish, 40 species of mammals and 50 species of reptiles. As the third largest national park in the lower 48 states (2,500 square miles), Everglades National Park poses many unusual logistical and photographic challenges that are best overcome with the help of a knowledgeable guide.

Award-winning travel journalist and wildlife photographer M. Timothy O’Keefe shows you where to find many of the Everglades’ most distinctive animals such as wood storks, great blue herons, roseate spoonbills and alligators--even rarely seen crocodiles—on your very first trip.

Using a combination of photo tips and animal behavior descriptions, Tim advises which areas to visit, the best months and what time of day. He provides 122 entries and 472 sample photos to illustrate what kinds of pictures you can take. GPS maps for each locations also include other nearby photo sites and the distance to each.

The app covers all three Everglades NP sections (Homestead, Shark Valley and The Ten Thousand Islands), with driving directions, opening hours, access fees, telephone numbers and website links. It also includes relevant photo attractions located near each entrance area.

Since Everglades National Park and the areas around it remain a true wilderness, Tim also provides the essentials on where to stay or camp, where to fuel up and where to find food or restaurants. Such locations still are surprisingly few and far between. You don't want to miss the last one, or the only one.
