App Description

Story Problems uniqueness comes from the ability to use fun animals as manipulatives to aide in solving simple story problems. Students can choose to solve addition or subtraction story problems. For an extra challenge, mixed story problems are included. Choosing this game mode will allow students to use higher level thinking skills to first determine whether the problem calls for them to add or subtract.

They can then use the manipulatives to help solve the story problem. To allow for differentiation, a range of numbers can be selected that will then be used within the story problems. Story Problems will read the problem to the student. This helps those younger students that may need a little extra support with this skill.

Students may enter their name into the game and the game keeps track of their results. Results are recorded by date, number correct and game type. This is a great way for parents and teachers to check for understanding and then reteach where necessary.

Story Problems targets children in Kindergarten to Second Grade. It uses the common core standards in Operations and Algebraic Thinking for each of these grades. K.OA.A.2, 1.OA.A.2, 2.OA.A.1
