When six fitness enthusiasts came together through their passion of the industry, they integrated their unique and state-specific fitness training programs to form the first national fitness training provider in Australia in 1979. This became what we now know as the Australian Institute of Fitness in 2000.

Since then, the Institute as it's commonly known has gone from strength to strength, substantially increasing the quality of training programs and number of Master Trainers graduating and in employment. The Institute now trains more Personal Trainers than all other fitness industry training providers, as well as offering courses in massage, group exercise, aqua, and business.

In June 2005, the 'Australian Institute of Massage (Vic/Tas)' opened it's doors in Elsternwick, and in 2009 Rebranded itself as a stand alone company none as Sage Massage.

In January 2013, Sage Massage was rebranded once again as Sage Institute of Massage and 'Sage Institute of Child Care' and 'Sage Institute of Aged Care' opened their doors to students. the company introduced an umbrella name: 'Sage Institute of Education.

In 2013 due to the success and growth of the business, we consolidated the employment of all team members into one company known as The Institute Pty Ltd. This includes all Sage Education and Australian Institute of Fitness employees.

In 2015 'Sage Institute of Fitness opened their doors to students. Sage Institute of Education went national opening campuses in Sydney and Brisbane.
