App Description

This app is your comprehensive and portable guide to Dapitan City, the Shrine City of the Philippines. Dapitan is where national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal was exiled. He arrived in 1892 and stayed until 1896, a period described by historians as among his most productive years. The Rizal Shrine in the city recreates the national hero’s workplace and settlement, where he taught students, wrote poems, and attended to patients.

Dapitan Guide contains information on where to go and what to do in the city. It also contains a listing of places to stay during your visit. The app contains a Virtual Concierge feature that allows users to interact with the Dapitan City Tourism Office for inquiries and requests for assistance.

The app is offline-capable: install and then use it anywhere, even without an Internet connection.

The app is offered for free as part of the nationwide Digital Tourism collaboration of SMART Communications and InnoPub Media, with the support of various local government units and private groups. In Dapitan, the program is undertaken in partnership with the Dapitan City Government. The Digital Tourism program was given an Anvil Award of Merit in 2014.
