509 is a haitian Band, based in florida, Miami area they play Kompa music from Haiti. The band specializes in playing Heavy Kompa, however they Style of playing reflects a blend of many styles including R&B, Jazz, Zouk. Most of their material comes from traditional sources and the vocals are sung in English, Creole and French.
The musicians in 509 have been performing Kompa music at festivals, parties and other events all over the world for over 20 years. The band consists of Kenny Desmangles Lead Vocal, Ralph Menelas on Lead Guitar & vocal, Ti Kodo on Percusion, Bodo on Keyboard, Rodrigue on guitar, Sexy Beef on bass and Frantz Timothe on drums.
