Zombie Shock is what every zombie game should be in the App Store, a fast paced action shooter with a nice zombie side story to tie it all up. Forget the creepy slow zombies, iPhone apps are meant for people that don't have time to sit down and play a 10+ hour epic.

The game starts with you, as the famed scientist Abel, waking up to an intercom telling you to quickly go to the JFK Airport. Eventually you discover that Abel was the inventor of the AIDS vaccine, but the vaccine somehow mutated into the F.E.A.R. virus, turning everyone into zombies. Unfortunately there seem to be no cars in this world because you spend the entire game in a mad dash to the airport.

Since you are running for your life, it is only natural that you will have zombies chasing you. Everyone seems to have turned into a zombie too, from the police officers, to the giant rats, to the always fun "crazy women' who only die after their heads explode in a bloody mess. Instead of just running and dodging though, you are well equipped with weapons, and can buy more weapons, as well as stat upgrades, between levels (I'm not sure where you are buying them from, but that doesn't really matter).

With your insane weapon arsenal intact, loaded up with everything from pistols to chain guns to crossbows, you blow up every zombie that comes at you. Like any good zombie game, head shots are the key, as they count for double the damage, more money as you hit more heads in a row.

My absolute favorite part of the game, and this may sound strange, is the zombie head shot counter over your head, complete with fantastic Japanese arcade style taunts like "Head shot!" and "Eww, gross!", on top of a loud hard rock soundtrack that was recorded in-house by the developer.

As far as the game mechanics go, they are all controlled with dual stick controls. One stick lets you run around the screen trying to dodge zombie attacks while the other lets you aim for those glorious head shots. Reloads are done automatically, but the trick to the game is to be quick about switching weapons while you are reloading. At the beginning of each level, you get to pick the three weapons that you want to equip, all of which are instantly swappable in the level by touching on their corresponding picture.

With fast paced gameplay and an impressive arsenal of weapons, Zombie Shock has everything that you would ever need from a zombie game. If you are at all a fan of shooters with RPG-like weapon and stat upgrades, pick this one up for sure.
