Colorful and charming it might be, but Time Tangle - Adventure Time is a bit shallow in the end.

Using the colorful and immensely popular license of Adventure Time comes Time Tangle - Adventure Time, a title that's keen to avoid being just another Endless Runner, but fails to truly take advantage of its small sense of purpose.

Each session involves spinning a wheel to see what kind of activity must be completed. These generally involve either chasing something, collecting something, or beating something up. The controls are the same but the change in objective does help make you think there's more to Time Tangle - Adventure Time than there actually is.

Controls are tilt-based with a touch to the left causing you to jump and a touch to the right causing you to punch. It's simple enough to pick up and reflects the general simplicity of Time Tangle - Adventure Time. After completing a few mission types, you move on to a boss battle that mostly involves dodging attacks before punching out at the monster. Timing is what makes things trickier but it's nothing too tough.

That's the problem with Time Tangle - Adventure Time. It's fun the first few times, especially while you're enjoying the voiceovers and general charm of the show. There's also the bonus of being able to call for backup from other Adventure Time characters. But it turns pretty samey.

There's no upgrade system to give you a sense of progression, so the sole focus of structure comes from moving between levels. It's not as substantial as feeling like you're actually moving forward in some way, although it does work as a brief distraction. In the end, it's a bit much to pay for yet another auto-runner - even one with the charm of Adventure Time.
