Hambo is an extremely fun physics puzzle game that combines strategic thinking with precise aiming and timing. Levels are expertly designed and have many different obstacles and features. The app has a ton of content and is a steal at $0.99.

The star of the show is Hambo, a tough bandana-wearing pig. Players aim his gun by tapping and fire his gun by pressing the gun icon in the bottom left of the screen. The goal is to shoot and kill all of the enemy pigs. The levels are essentially puzzles which are solved by aiming and firing Hambo’s gun, but there are many different types of obstacles like metal walls, which bullets ricochet off of, and glass panes, which when broken cause a character to move. Some levels also have different environmental features, like ice, which pigs slide down on. Some levels require precise aiming and timing because either Hambo or the enemy pigs will be falling or sliding on ice.

The first few levels are part of an extremely well-done interactive tutorial. Users play through regular levels, but with pop-up boxes and explanations. The tutorial is really fun, informative, and isn’t boring. It’s nice to see an app that opts for an interactive tutorial instead of just a boring instructions page.

A really neat feature is the option to view the optimal solution to a level when a level is either solved or failed. Viewing the solution will aim Hambo’s gun and shoot it automatically. This allows users to see how close their actions are to the perfect solution, or figure out how to solve the level. These solutions to a level, and the option to skip a level, can be purchased in the store.

At the end of every level players are awarded coins and a score. Coins can be used in the store to buy costumes for Hambo, new missions, solutions, and skips. The store is robust and has many items available for purchase. Players can also purchase more coins with real money or get some for free for liking the app on Facebook.

I can honestly say that Hambo is one of the best games I’ve had the privilege to review. With numerous guns, great graphics, and over 200 levels spread over multiple level packs, the app is a great deal for the $0.99 price tag. Be sure to tap on the story button on the main page, which shows a funny and nicely drawn animated video.
