Call of Champions, by Spacetime Studios, is a distilled multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) that's reminiscent to Blizzard's Heroes of the Stormin that your team of 3 champions must cross a battlefield to destroy the enemy's base. Each match is timed so you only get 5 minutes to score, and capturing your enemy's base is no easy task.

Each team has four towers guarding their base, as well as a wall as their last line of defense. You'll need to guide an orb along a path between the two bases to disable those towers and bring down the wall before you can attack the base proper. All along the way your enemy will be attacking and trying to steal away the orb. If either side fails to destroy the other's base, then the winner will be decided by whomever destroyed the most towers.

Call of Champions is simple, but clever. By keeping the matches to 5 minutes - as well as removing things like item shops and making the map small - you're able to pick up a game anytime without having to worry that you'll need to invest the next hour of your life to it. There are two places to pick up temporary power-ups that will increase your armor, damage, or speed for a short time, which can give you a well-needed advantage if both teams are too evenly matched. It also allows for players to drop out easily; if you lose your connection or need to bail,it fills in the space with an A.I. team member.

If you're interested in getting a feel for everything before playing you can even watch broadcasted fights in Spectator Mode. This lets you Pause, Instant Replay, and Follow favorite players. Then once you've gotten the hang of it you can also broadcast your own fights.

My one complaint is that there's only one map. This means that after your fourth or fifth fight, things being to feel repetitive. I'm sure a lot of players will have a fantastic time challenging opponnents, fulfilling daily missions, and leveling-up their characters, but I prefer more variety in my games. Hopefully in the future we'll get a few more maps to keep things fresh.
