Busy yet unorganized people will appreciate Awesome Calendar‘s efforts. I know I do.

It’s an attractive yet simply laid out calendar app that syncs with Google Calendar via iCal as well as Google Tasks and iCloud. This ensures that it’s a great app for users who want to track their life via PC/Mac, iPhone and iPad. It’ll even let users know what the weather’s meant to be like for the coming week!

Awesome Calendar starts things well, asking users to select their relevant country in order that the calendar displays the right public holidays. It’s a relatively small touch but very useful when arranging things. Setting up Google Task syncing and weather set up are a little hidden away in the settings, when it would have been convenient to have been included during setup, but they are quite easy to find.

That’s all that’s needed to get Awesome Calendar set up correctly. It’s then just a matter of entering what needs tracking. Tapping on a date opens up a diary style interface in which events, to do items or memos can be added, with relevant reminders set up just as easily. In the case of notes, it’s even possible to add images, either from the camera roll or direct from the camera.

The weather display functionality ensures that at a glance, users can check out the weather forecast for the next 4 days, but at another quick tap this can be hidden away just as simply.

Simple is the key behind Awesome Calendar. It’s effective yet never feels too complicated. All the necessary features are there from the minor (adjusting whether the start of the week is Sunday or Monday) to the powerful (sync support). Think of a feature expected from a task management app and it’s there, making it easy to create an event and send it over to everyone of relevance.

The only noticeable tool I missed was the ability to add color to specific tasks but other than that, it’s an ideal app. Combining diary functionality with calendar and to do list features is an excellent step to making Awesome Calendar indispensable. The icing on the cake is the synching which works well and fast, making it a great solution for those regularly on the move.
