The best new games we played this week - August 3

It's been quite a busy week, with a true bounty of fresh new games jumping onto the App Store. We got the chance to try a wide variety of new mobile titles across a range of genres.

Now, it's time to select the top five new games of the week. Let's hop right to it, shall we?

Miracle Merchant

This lovingly animated game mixes solitaire with potion making to excellent effect in this quirky, fantasy card game. Tiny Touch Tales have positioned themselves as master creators of fine digital card games, and& Miracle Merchant is no exception.

Neo Angle

This clever puzzle game resplendent in 80's cyberpunk sees you guiding a triangle through a series of grids. The game serves up a healthy challenge, though its quite approachable for players of all kinds.

Fighting Fantasy Legends

The fantasy gamebook continues to see a resurgence on mobile with Fighting Fantasy Legends. This classic adventure finds a new digital home and we're quite pleased with the result. The game settles you into a fantasy land, where all of your choices, from your combat tactics to the friends you make, will have an impact on the story.

Egglia: Legend of the Redcap

This sprawling JRPG from the folks who brought you Kingdom Hearts is quite an achievement. The game features gorgeous artwork that frames a whimsical fantasy story. It's a premium title, too, so you won't have to worry about paywalls once you make the initial purchase.

Bring Me Cakes - Fairy Puzzle

This surprising little indie game is a witty retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale. You slide blocks across each level to guide Little Red Riding Hood to her next destination as she embarks on her perilous journey to Grandmother's house.
