App Description

Experience the new ACCP Communicating Bad News, a new app offering ICU physicians training in sensitive communication situations. Realistic scenarios are depicted with testing features and insight from industry professionals. The app was created by the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), the global leader in providing education in cardiopulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.

Features
• Series of short vignettes on “good cop” and “bad cop” doctor performance in the ICU environment.
• Shows a typical interaction with a family member in today’s busy ICU environment
• The learner is prompted to stop and think about what could have been done to handle the situation better. A quiz is accessible from the main menu.
• Short vignettes with nationally known speakers in ICU management talk to the learner about communicating bad news to family members.
• Ideal scenario is displayed toward the end to leave learners with a positive communications message and example.

Use
This video is a tool for training health-care professionals and students in the ICU to handle complex sensitive communication situations.
