This beautiful hidden gem in Palos Verdes, CA, is designed by Lloyd Wright, organic architect and son of Frank Lloyd Wright. Wayfarers Chapel sits atop the cliffs and coves of Portuguese bend above the Pacific Ocean in a suburb of Los Angeles. Inside, beautiful orchids and ferns line the walls of natural Palos Verdes stones. The edifice, constructed of redwood, glass and local stone, was built in 1949-51. Intimate seating of 100. Built as a national memorial to 18th-century scientist, philosopher and religious reformer Emanuel Swedenborg, Wayfarers Chapel was designed to serve as a chapel for meditation and prayer for wayfarers. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Because of its scenic location, Wayfarers Chapel is a popular site for weddings, both in the chapel itself and outside on the chapel grounds.
