DeNA has been running their first ever event featuring Beast Wars for TRANSFORMERS: Battle Tactics. Beast Wars Episode 1 started on April 9, and will be continuing through April 14. There isn't much time left but you'll be able to team up with Maximals and Predacons from the Beast Wars TV series such as Waspinator, Cheetor, and T-Rex Megatron if you act fast.

TRANSFORMERS: Battle Tactics is free on the App Store, so there's no better time than now to try it out if you haven't already.

Legions of Steel, by Slitherine, promises to be a turn based strategy game based off of the Legions of Steel board game. The League of Aliens and the U.N.E. (United Nations of Earth) must work together against the evil Empire of Machines before it can destroy the universe. Your job is to guide an assault against the Empire's production facilities and disrupt their endless supply of reinforcements. You'll get to choose from 2 playable factions and units with their own set of weapons and abilities. Who you choose will greatly impact your strategy for each of the 15 scenarios.

"In trying to faithfully recreate the thrilling experience of the Legions of Steel board game, we wanted to draw inspiration from successful classics such as Space Hulk and Doom: The Boardgame", said Romain Soulie, CEO of Nyx Studios. "The addition of a very engaging multiplayer system, involving head to head, multiplatform challenges and the tournament system, really makes Legions of Steel stand out on its own".

Legions of Steel is coming to iOS in May 2015.

When the evil alien invaders inevitably come, it’s pretty much guaranteed that only the pure innocent hearts of children can save us - or at least children as well-armed as the cast of "Attack the Block." So we might as well start preparing now with Scrap Force, an upcoming turn-based strategy game where children use alien power to protect the planet with homemade weaponry. We find out just how much kids rule in this latest edition of It Came From Canada!

Scrap Force consists of a lengthy series of turn-based battles between plucky neighborhood kids and evil alien Obliteroids. Each match is one-on-one with two teams of six facing each other using three lanes that are two-units long. Players don’t create units, but rather draw from a shuffled group of heroes to place on the battlefield. At the start of each round, players and enemies are given an increasing amount of power shards. With more shards, stronger heroes can be summoned, so the match escalates no matter what.

The hero variety is really what gives Scrap Force its depth. Every new warrior has his or her own quirks to learn. Some can attack as soon as they are placed. Others steal power shards with each hit. Some kids can move in more directions while others just have more sheer strength. There are tons of strategies and counter-strategies to form using these unique abilities in concert. Skillfully balance these fighters to defeat alien foes and topple their base. Using items like bowling balls and hot dog dynamite helps, too. And with its simple 3D playground characters and environments, the whole thing has a neat Backyards Sports vibe. Except it’s galactic warfare instead of football.

In between rounds, players can summon new heroes and upgrade old ones with the scrap they’ve collected. Downtime isn’t optional either, since the game’s freemium timers keep players from just blasting through the campaign. That means players will be spending a lot of time with these child soldiers. But given what we’ve played so far, that might not be such a bad thing.

So be on the lookout for Scrap Force once it fully launches soon.

tinyBuild and Enter Skies have announced that their gesture-based turn-based RPG Fearless Fantasy is set to come to iOS later this Summer.

Described by the developers as "probably the weirdest RPG you’ll play this year," you play as Leon, the world's most dangerous bounty hunter, on a mission to slay the world's weirdest creatures and save a girl from an awful marriage. As well as the use of gestures to get critical hits, the game also features voice-overs, animated cut-scenes and "mildly disturbing boss fights."

Fearless Fantasy is set to arrive on the App Store later this Summer.

Game Insight has revealed the alien enemies players will encounter in their upcoming free-to-play turn-based strategy game X-Mercs: Invasion. In defeating these enemies, players will both continue to defend their homeworld from these invaders and gather further resources to continue development of their underground military base.

I’m sure plenty of people were a bit dubious when Hitman GO was announced for iOS. I’ll even admit that I had my doubts. However, I was quite pleasantly surprised when I managed to see it in action.

Hitman GO is certainly not your typical Hitman game. It’s also not the kind of Hitman game I think most of us were expecting. It’s actually a puzzle game in which players must figure out how to move Agent 47 so that he can avoid guards and either exit the level or take out his targets. The entire game has this spectacular diorama/board game aesthetic, too.

The really interesting thing is how Square Enix Montréal has managed to incorporate so many of the series’ most notable mechanics (stealth, disguises, dual pistols, etc) into such a drastically different setting. And it all looks like it works surprisingly well. If that weren’t enough, there’s also going to be a special unlockable level designed around one of Bloody Money’s most memorable missions: Curtains Down.

Hitman GO will be releasing on the App Store this Thursday, April 17, for $4.99.

Frozen Synapse, a popular turn-based strategy game from renowned developer Mode 7, will become a universal app and arrive on the iPhone and iPod touch at some point later this year, according to a report from Pocket Tactics. You can get the game on the iPad right now, however, and that version has received a plethora of great reviews.

Notably, the game's user interface is jam-packed on the PC version and it's already clunky on the iPad; there's just a lot of buttons and options that make the game work. It's hard to imagine Mode 7 being able to fit all of the game's buttons on such a small screen.

We'll see how it works on a 4-inch (or 3.5-inch) screen when Frozen Synapse is released for the iPhone later this year.
