War Robots VR: The Skirmish is an all new adventure from Pixonic, makers of the ultra-addictive multiplayer strategy game of the same name. The Skirmish is a single player VR short for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, that’s just arrived today.

This all new VR adventure sheds the third-person perspective for some truly immersive first-person gameplay. The Skirmish sets you in the midst of a war-torn, post-apocalyptic city. You have no recollection of how you’ve arrived there, and instead must set out with your mech to find your purpose.

You’ve got a few tools to help you out on your journey, though, including some useful monitors that will give you a reading on enemies you might find in the vicinity. If you do stumble upon an enemy mech, you’ll have access to some seriously powerful weapons to take them out.

Based on the short teaser, the game looks quite slick, with mechs engaging in intense firefights. VR seems to be the perfect home for a campaign that pits mechs against each other. The game’s neon cyberpunk setting really drives the concept home.

War Robots VR: The Skirmish is free on Steam and Oculus Store, and requires an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift headset.

Updated: Oculus Rift Headset Coming to iOS Devices - Do We Really Need to Say More?

Posted by Andrew Stevens on October 29th, 2013

UPDATE: It turns out that it's for Android, not iOS. Boo.

Oculus VR announced that Oculus Rift is coming to iOS devices. What?? Yes! Venture Beat reports that the company's CEO, Brendan Iribe, gave the announcement during his keynote speech at the GamesBeat video game conference. It's also said that it should launch around the same time as the PC headset and that it'll be a lighter version that uses the mobile device's processor.

Well that's just totally freakin' cool, isn't it? I personally had experience with the Oculus and found it to be incredible. I can't wait to see what the iOS version has in store for us all.
