Fishing might be a great pastime but it's more famous for its relaxed pace than its action packed, slicing and dicing type excitement. That is until a game like Ninja Fishing comes along. Yes, Ninja Fishing. It really is that wacky a combination, bordering on the kind of absurdity that only a game featured inside Game Dev Story would normally offer.
In Ninja Fishing, players control Otoro, a fisherman ninja who's got quite an appetite for sushi. Players must tilt the iOS device in order to move the hook around fish and underwater mines. Once a fish is hooked, Otoro then reels in the catch flinging the fish into the air. This is where the ninja side of things come into play with players needing to slice the fish as fast as possible while nimbling avoiding the dynamite that lies in wait.
Extra points are gained for capturing rare fish and there's an upgrade system to play around with too.
The lighthearted and devilishly humorous Ninja Fishing is set to be released August 4th. We'll be sure to have the latest scoop on it nearer the time. For now, check out the trailer.
"We still goin' fishin' this weekend?"
"Nah, Lumbergh's gonna have me come in on Saturday, I just know it."
It's unfortunate that we all can't just sit in a boat all day and fish. There's just something nice about sitting on a lake with only nature and a beer in sight. Instead, we all have to work... sometimes even on the weekends.
Working these days doesn't necessarily mean productivity though, so hop on your iPhone and pick up Field and Stream Fishing.
Field and Stream Fishing isn't your ordinary zen-like arcade fishing experience, it is a full on fishing experience brought to you by the the official magazine company. With a handful of adventure quests to go on, 13 fish species to catch, and full flick casting with twitch controls, you might just be able to make yourself believe you are on the water. You'll never be quite as cool as the guy below, but hey, there's nothing wrong with your menial desk job.
Just don't get caught at work with a beer in a coozie, that could spell bad things for your employment.

Freeverse today announced Flick Fishing for the iPhone. A lush 3D fishing game that utilizes the accelerometer in the iPhone and iPod Touch to act as a virtual fishing rod.
While there are already a few fishing games in the app store (iTunes Link), this fishing games utilizes rendered 3D graphics to a greater extent than we've seen thus far.
Here's a video from Freeverse showing a beta build of the game:
The game will hopefully be out the first week of November. We like what we see and look forward to getting our hands on it and throwing out a line to two. Keep an eye on our new apps page, feed or twitter stream for release info.
