Looking forward to Animal Crossing: New Horizons? We know the feeling. We can't wait to start delivering fish and butterflies to our cute fuzzy friends, despite the fact that at times it can feel more like a vocation than a game.

But what if you're looking for a mobile game to try and ensure you get your cuteness fix in the meantime? Well, there's Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, but we reckon we can do better than that. Which is why we've created this list of the five best games like Animal Crossing for iOS.

At last, we'll be receiving some news about the mobile version of Animal Crossing in a special Nintendo Director at11 PM on October 24. There's been little word on the game since it was first announced, having been met with a series of delays. Fans have been impatient for more Animal Crossing, especially since we haven't seen a new game in the series since New Leaf launched in 2013.

With Animal Crossing mobile news on the horizon, let's take a moment to look back on what we know about the game so far, and how that might come to play in tomorrow's announcement.

Animal Crossing is still coming to mobile in 2017, according to aWaypointinterview with Nintendo. Announced in 2016, the game was delayed without a defined release window. However, fans of Nintendo's fantasy slice of life game won't have to wait much longer.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf launched in the west back in 2013, and since then folks have been itching for a new meandering town sim. Naturally everyone was thrilled when an Animal Crossing mobile game was announced alongside Super Mario and Fire Emblem mobile titles. While the Animal Crossing mobile game is still in the works, it's sadly been delayed a second time.

Last time we looked at Castaway Paradise, a free-to-play take on Animal Crossing for iOS, was back in January when we checked out the Canadian soft-launch version. A few months have passed since then, and Stolen Couch Games have now released a new trailer, teasing the game a bit more before its worldwide launch sometime later this year.

Castaway Paradise is available now for those with a Canadian iTunes account, with an Australian release expected sometime this June. Still no word on a date for the full worldwide release, but it should be "within the next few months."
