Collage tools might be nothing new to the App Store, but an app that allows users to mix videos and still images together, all optimized for Instagram usage? Now that’s pretty handy, and it’s precisely what Vidstitch Pro offers. It’s simple and quick to use too, making it an ideal addition to the photo sharer’s arsenal.
Laid out in a clear manner, users can get straight into creating attractive collages. A four step process takes them from the beginning to being able to upload their creations. Starting out, users choose from an array of 54 different frames. They’re not particularly wacky, sticking to standard rectangular or square shapes, but they do the job well and offer sufficient flexibility for those who want to incorporate up to four images at once. It’s very easy to add images into each slot, with videos and still photos equally simple to include. Videos take a moment or two to process but the delay is pretty minimal.
Vidstitch Pro lacks the flexibility of being able to apply filters or special effects to its creations, but it does at least allow one to adjust the border thickness and color. It’s a subtle yet convenient way of adding a personal flourish to a creation, although the ability to add individual filters would have been appreciated. Upon completion it’s possible to upload straight to Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, as well as save to the camera roll. Saved as a video, the resulting collage moves where possible with still images being, well, still throughout.
A few more manipulation options would have been great to see, but I still found Vidstitch Pro pretty useful. It’s a slight change from the usual collage making apps and something I can see myself using often when collating videos. Its speed and simplicity makes it all the more attractive a proposition.
