In Trivia Death Match with Ken Jennings, people play head to head against Ken Jennings in a rapid-fire quiz match. The app developers claim to have locked Ken Jennings in a room and had him answer all of the questions in order to make the AI for this game. And after playing the game, I can see why Ken Jennings is widely considered to be a genius. Beating him is very hard on the first try due to both his accuracy and speed.
On the right side of the play screen there is an indicator of how many questions the player has gotten right and wrong, and how far along Ken Jennings is. Players don’t actually find out how many points Ken Jennings has earned until the quiz is over. The score is a combination of how many questions were answered correctly and a time bonus.
The questions in the quizzes range in difficulty, with some being very easy and others being very hard and obscure. Also, questions are not in a typical Jeopardy style format, where the answer begins with “What is”. Rather, they are just regular questions.
For the launch, the game has 50 quizzes and more are supposedly on the way. Each quiz theme with a kooky and clever name. The quizzes have the same questions each time so replaying them won’t be as fun after the first time, but can help to improve a player’s score.
There isn’t much else to the app besides playing quizzes. I was happy to see that users don’t have to purchase additional quizzes and that there are many to choose from.
I personally like quiz games, so I really enjoyed Trivia Death Match with Ken Jennings. Although I’m not sure if the experience is anything like playing against Ken Jennings would be in real life, it’s still a fun quiz game.
