Poker with Bob Review

When you think of casual gaming, poker might not spring to mind. After all it's a game that you can play extremely competitively. Indeed to the newbie it can be a little scary to get into. Poker with Bob dispenses with any intimidation though and is simply great fun. It's the perfect game to drop in and out of, especially as multi tasking is enabled so you never have to wait for the game to start up again.

The crux of what makes Poker with Bob not just another poker sim is Bob himself. He's full of personality. Although it's never going to be the same as playing against a real person, the fact that he reacts to every move you make with a cheeky remark makes for a much more endearing game of cards. 5-card draw poker is a simple game to get to grips with, many hands can be won simply by collecting pairs, but a list of card combinations that work is available within the app. Very useful for those who haven't played before.

Crucially, though, it's great fun to play. There are a few different difficulty levels on offer in the form of different Bobs and it's a certainty that each game is going to take a fair while to finish. In my, mildly newbie-ish case, I've played upwards of 150 hands with one character, probably because I'm forever too tempted to bet huge sums of money on a not bad hand, then lose it all to a Full House. Luckily I don't ever gamble for real money!

Besides the single player mode, there's also the addition of multiplayer mode mode over bluetooth which could make for some great office based lunchtime games.

If you're even the slightest of fans of poker games, you really should give Poker with Bob a whirl. It'll certainly be remaining on my iPhone for a while to come as it's so convenient to drop in to play a few hands whenever you've got a spare five minutes.
