Games publisher NetEase wants to transport you back to Middle-earth with The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War, the brand new strategy game for fans of Tolkien’s Iconic world. It's been a while since gamers have had a chance to play a proper The Lord of the Rings game, with the last title being Middle-earth: Shadow of War, released way back in 2017 by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. However, whilst Shadow of War was an RPG available across multiple platforms, including console and PC, The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War has been designed from the ground up exclusively for mobile devices, built around strategic play with a unique social interaction aspect in which you work together each season with other players to battle and conquer.
An Epic Story
The story is an original tale from Middle-earth. Set in the same universe as the trilogy, The One Ring, which was thought to be lost, has reemerged, waiting in the bowels of Dol Guldur - the Dark Fortress of Mirkwood. Soon war breaks out over the news of its return, tempting the world of men, Dwarves and Elves alike to seek out its dark properties in an attempt to wield its immense power. As the player you will have to strategize and battle your way through many foes who want to take possession of the One Ring for themselves. You will need intelligent planning; using clever tactics to keep one step ahead of your enemies and those that want to reclaim the One Ring to rule them all!

With Iconic characters like Gandalf, Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee at your disposal along with other memorable heroes from the books to choose from, you will have to decide who’ll take command of your army and lead you to victory. But be wise with your decisions for who you choose to lead your troops into battle comes with their own skill set and unique abilities.
With every famous location from the films and books recreated, The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War offers the player an immersive experience that’s faithful to the world of Tolkien’s warring Wizards and Orcs. Expect to see the wondrous Elven realm of Lothlórien or the dark intimidating land of Mordor all painstakingly rendered in beautiful 3D. Each one of these vivid landscapes has been separated into their own geographical tile, which players will need to control in order to expand the influence of their Fellowship and their own individual armies. Among these tiles can be found 'Resource territories', which, as the name suggests, will provide your army with essential resources. Players should take note that unlike traditional empire building games, resources can only be obtained by controlling these tiles. The riches obtained from conquering rival territories also often pales in comparison to the cost of taking them, so expanding your territory strategically and working with your Fellowship will be vital to your success.
Working Together
Forging a Fellowship or Warband seems like quite the task, but if you are able to convince other players to join you in your quest, then you may be able to forge your own story into legend that will go down in the annals of Middle earth’s storied history. Each season will claim a new victor. You will have to work together and focus your attention on your enemies’ territories and strongholds while bolstering your armies in order to achieve victory.
