Well, we've done it again. The weekend is here at last, which means it's time to sit back and settle in with some games. You're in luck -- this week saw the release of some seriously excellent new titles. The App Store got a brand new, mobile exclusive Professor Layton game, but there are quite a few other quality games out this week if you're puzzle averse, too. Here are five of the best new games we played this week.

Time Crash

Time Crash brings new life to the endless runner genre with its sleek action and stylish geometric design. It reminds us a lot of Mirror's Edge with its fast-paced parkour gameplay.

Vista Golf

2017 has seen a surprising number of quality golf games, the most recent being Vista Golf. It's certainly one of the most elegant mobile golfing games we've played. It foregoes intensive golf mechanics for a simple game of putt-putt that is just the right combination of fun and challenging.

Galaxy of Pen & Paper

Dungeons & Dragons meets Star Wars in this delightful new RPG from the folks who made Knights of Pen & Paper. Galaxy combines tabletop roleplaying with turn-based RPG elements. You determine the course of the story while engaging in fun, strategic combat. Sci-fi references abound.

Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire's Conspiracy

For the first time ever, a full-length Professor Layton game makes its way onto mobile gadgets before it makes its debut on the Nintendo 3DS later this year. It features more of everything you love about the series -- dastardly difficult puzzles, rewarding gameplay, and a charming story.

Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?!

Rather than embarking on your own epic fantasy journey, Holy Potatoes! has you stay behind to manage ever facet of a hometown weapons shop. It's a delightful sim that sees you crafting all manner of fantastical weapons, while wheeling and dealing with seasoned adventurers to sell your fine works. It's different and quite fun, and its premium price tag means no IAP nonsense.
