Playing games is fun, we all know this, which makes them the perfect medium to teach people about important issues. Who doesn’t learn better when they enjoy themselves? Our latest piece of infotainment comes from OtE Productions, and is called Electric Blue: Gecko Dash.

The game aims to raise awareness of the Electric Blue Gecko, also known as the Williams’ Dwarf Gecko, as it sits in the rather worrying threatened category due to poachers. You will take control of the titular lizard as you slip through the hands of the evil thieves to get back to your screwpine tree home.

Along the way, you will face hazards such as logging, forest fires, invasive plants, and more, because it isn't just poachers putting our crawling friend at risk. To navigate the danger, you will need to dine on an array of bugs to power up the ancient and mystical art of the Gecko Dash, shooting away at the speed of light.

This marks OtE Productions’ third foray into the gaming world, following Save the Purple Frog and Kakapo Run. As you may have sussed out, they are committed to raising awareness of the plights facing critically endangered species, a rather noble course I am sure we can all agree on, and why not have some guilt with your gaming?

When announcing the game, On the Edge Founder, Beth Blood, said: “With the launch of our third mobile game designed to raise awareness of lesser-known endangered species, we want to help more people fall in love with the natural world and understand the challenges these animals are facing. We hope that with the launch of Electric Blue: Gecko Dash! we’re able to spark curiosity across all generations and help everyone care about their plight.”

Electric Blue: Gecko Dash can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
