It is a shame when a games server gets shut down, which is, unfortunately, the case for Mega Man X Dive come September, which only lasted a little over a year after its global release. Luckily for fans of the iconic series, Capcom is keeping the story alive, with Mega Man X Dive Offline.

Dive takes this storied series, and gives it a nice meta spin. In the Cyberworld region of Deep Log, the game data for Mega Man X have developed a bug, warping the games’ data and causing it to be corrupted. It is down to you to work alongside RiCO, enter the Deep Log, and find out what is going on.

Along with this original story, you will be able to test your skills in a variety of side modes. Ascend the Jakob Orbital Elevator in the Challenge mode and attempt difficult stages, with a Time Attack variation for the more advanced players. Event Mode will immerse you in stories pulled full across the Mega Man series, such as Battle Network and Legends.

To deal with these difficult dalliances, you will need a plethora of allies. Luckily, you will have access to fan-favourite characters such as X, Zero, Vile, and more as you take the battle to the Mavericks. Take on 900 stages with the help of over 100 characters, and harness the power of your DiVE Trigger to unlock your team's full potential.

Now, to tackle the unsavoury news. To start with the obvious, this Offline mode will lack the original Battle, Co-Op, and Guild modes. A bit of a blow, however even worse will be the omission of collaboration content from other Capcom franchises. It's a shame not to have Leon Kennedy fighting it out with a bunch of viruses, but it’s good to see a developer keeping their games alive in any way they can.

Mega Man X Dive will be available from the App Store and Google Play from September 1st.
