Fans of base building games might be excited to know that yet another entry in the genre has materialized - Game of Thrones: Conquest. Yes, you can now join the many kingdoms of the famed book series, or create your own, as you try to conquer swathes of land and build up a thriving empire.

However, as the old adage goes, Rome wasn't built in a day, nor will your fledgling kingdom in Westeros spring to success overnight. Here are a few tips to help you get started.

Take care of the basics first

When you're first starting out, make sure that you have the basic supplies necessary before you go on to build and buy fancier resorces. Build some farms and sawmills so that you have a steady supply of food for your civilians, and wood for building bigger, more impressive structures. You should also make it a point to upgrade your farms and sawmills where you can to increase productivity. From there, you can move on to building out your military and more.

Clear out some quests

It may be tempting to go it your own right out the gate, but don't forget to complete some of the smaller tasks the game relegates to you. Completing quests (which you can check on by tapping Tyrion's icon) grant you extra food, wood, and money to help your fledgling kingdom grow more quickly.

Check power ratings before you attack

Once you have an army and plenty of resources, you can dabble in fighting other kingdoms. Do so with care, though, especially early on. Send out scouts to scope out the situation, and always check on a house's power rating before going for an all out attack. To do so, tap on a rival house and then Lord's Details. Never attack someone with a higher power rating than you -- it's a recipe for failure.
