Creature Quest
is a new collectible critter game by the creator of Might and Magic, Jon Van Caneghem. The game boasts a lot of customization options for the diverse teams of creatures you can collect. As you improve, you can even create dungeons of your very own for other adventurers to come and explore. Starting out, though, you'll need to master the ins and outs of combat, which can be tricky given the layers of strategy involved. Luckily for you, we have a few tips that will ease the learning curve quite a bit.

Study up on combos
Combos are an important aspect of battle, especially as you rise in levels. As you fight, pay attention to which creatures mesh well, creating combos off of each other's moves. These synchronized attacks cause extra damage and are very helpful if you're closely matched with an opponent.

In creating these combos, it's also important to pay attention to your creatures' elemental type. This will give you hints on which elements play well with each other, and which combinations are less effective. You can customize your creatures' elemental affinities in the Creature menu to make sure that your team is well balanced.

Focus on one target at a time
Sometimes fights can get quite hectic. The most efficient way to take out large groups of enemies is to focus your effort on the weaker monsters before aiming for the bosses. It will also minimize the amount of damage you take much more quickly. Tap a monster to target it, and all of your fire will be directed at that singular critter.

Pay attention to enemies' screen cues
Enemies are signposted with all sorts of useful information. Each time one of your creatures hits an opponent, the counter beside their health bar counts down to zero. Once it hits zero they start prepping a special ability, which will be displayed beneath the monster. Pay attention to these cues when doling out your attacks to avoid getting hit by something nasty.

It may seem like Creature Quest is going easy on you at first, but as enemies become more difficult, especially as they appear in multiple waves, you'll need to employ these strategies, and come up with your own, to beat the many quests the game lays out for you.
