BRIX! Block Blast is a puzzler that puts a twist on the Tetris formula

BRIX! Block Blast is the latest in a long line of mobile puzzlers, but Genera Games’ new iOS and Android offering is by no means more of the same.

The game is a unique mash-up of old and new. It takes the classic drop elements from Tetris and combines them with the colour-matching gameplay found in contemporary mobile puzzle titles, and the result is a system the developer has dubbed ‘drop & match’.

With this mechanic on their side, players can combine blocks, rack up extra points and earn boosters that will blast them through to the next level.

“We didn’t want to make just another predictable match-style game,” said Bruno Marcos, lead developer of BRIX! Block Blast. “We researched a way to combine new mechanics with classic gameplay that people know and love.”

The game was built with a family audience in mind, and the colourful backdrops its levels take place against will definitely strike a chord with this crowd. Players will also have the chance to build and collect iconic monuments across the map.

“We created this game with the whole family in mind,” Marcos added. “We wanted it to be challenging enough for adults, but easy enough for kids to pick up and understand”.
