Posted by Tre Lawrence on March 27th, 2014

Everplay Director Kris Jones says: “We are attempting to break into the popular puzzle genre by combining hardcore elements with a casual experience, all while keeping Everplay's snarky humor, retro art-style, and pick-up and play personality. Being free to play allows us to bring Horde of Heroes to the widest audience possible by eliminating the paid barrier of entry. To ensure that we made our free to play experience as fair and fun as possible, we made each member of our team complete the game without spending any money."

Bearded Man Studios will be Releasing Their New App, Warp 5 Overdrive, Soon

Posted by Tre Lawrence on March 13th, 2014

Bearded Man Studios, the three-person development house, has announced the upcoming release of its second iOS game, named Warp 5 Overdrive.

According to Lead Artist and Co-founder Andrew Briare, the game is "a super hard endless runner type game with nods to 80s arcade shooters that takes place in a contained 3D environment. A player controls an auto-firing ship (made of cubes) that rotates around a cylinder all while dodging various obstacles and enemies in a one hit kill environment."

"The goal of the game is to travel as many lightyears as possible," Briare goes on to say, "After a player’s ship is destroyed, a global leaderboard is shown that tracks the top “voyagers” of Warp 5 Overdrive and the player’s overall rank. Players can use the default ship or create their own ship with our Ship Creator."

Warp 5 Overdrive is due on the App Store March 18.

Gitchsoft, a self-proclaimed "little known shop in Ottawa, Canada," is partnering with entertainment super-house Marvel Entertainment to develop a game based on Uncanny X-Men comics for iOS. The game will be based on the 1980 story arc Days of Future Past, and looks to be a bit different from other games currently on mobile.

If the enthusiasm of the developer is anything to go by, this is a game well worth waiting for. According to Marvel's VP of Game Production, TQ Patterson, Glitchsoft is a partner worthy of bringing these characters to mobile life. "Glitchsoft came to us with a pedigree of rock-solid game development, strong production values, and a passion for the Uncanny X-Men franchise that was impossible to ignore," he said. "It's these sorts of qualities that we look for in a partner, and we couldn't be more excited to bring our version of 'Days of Future Past' to mobile."

The target date for release, according to the teaser website, is May 2014.

In my mind's eye, I see Hugh Jackman applauding.
