Chillingo and Finnish developers Nitro Games have today announced Gang of Pirates, a pirate-heavy strategy game. Players will be tasked with building up their own private pirate island into a fortress and rounding up and commanding a crew of scoundrels and scallywags. Players can then control their crew and take on others from around the world in 3D battles for fame and, more importantly as a pirate, fortune. Alongside these battles against other fellow players, the game will also feature a mission-based single-player campaign.

Gang of Pirates will be available later this year and will require a ‘stable’ Internet connection in order to play online, although offline gamers can enjoy the single-player campaign to their heart’s content.
