Outpour, an Anonymous Messaging App, Lets You Celebrate Your Real Life Heroes

Posted by on December 10th, 2014
iPhone App - Designed for iPhone, compatible with iPad

Sometimes you want to tell someone they are awesome or congratulate them for doing something you respect. With Outpour you can anonymously write kind messages to anyone who inspires you, without making that person feel like they have to reciprocate. You’ll be able to receive, reply to, and discuss messages anonymously, and spread some much-needed joy to others.

“Gratitude and positivity are extremely beneficial for individuals, both emotionally and physically, as well as for society as a whole,” said Calvin Liu, founder of Outpour. “Yet expressing gratitude is not a daily habit, and we rarely take the time to do it. Expressing gratitude has social and reputational costs, so we created Outpour to encourage kind words by harnessing the power of anonymity to loosen lips.”

You can download Outpour for free on the App Store today.

Hoplite, the Mythical Spartan Roguelike, is Free for Today Only and You Should Get it

Posted by on December 9th, 2014
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

Hoplite is one of those games that’s as easy to understand as it is to enjoy. It’s also one of those games that’s about as easy to play well as it is to eat your bodyweight in marbles. But that’s why we enjoyed it so much in the first place.

Well, for an extremely limited time – today only, in fact – you can get your hands on this hexagonal roguelike for absolutely free. There’s absolutely no reason for you not to do so, seeing as the game is both excellent and doesn’t really take up a lot of storage space. Plus there’s the whole ‘being excellent’ thing. I’ve already covered that, right?

So get your posterior onto the App Store and download Hoplite now, while it’s still free.

You Can Grab Hearthstone’s First Expansion, Goblins vs Gnomes, Right Now

Posted by on December 9th, 2014
iPad Only App - Designed for iPad

Hearthstone is, well, kind of popular. So it’s a bit of a surprise that it took as long as it did for the first expansion to roll out. Still, Goblins vs Gnomes is a welcome sight all the same.

The expansion centers around the titular groups of diminutive tinkerers, and it adds (what else?) a fair number of new cards – including the brand new “Mech” minion type, which can apparently be quite powerful when you use several of them together. These new cards are available to draft in the Arena, or you can buy them in packs from the shop. A new appropriately-themed board is also available, and Spectator Mode is finally up and running for those times when you’d rather study other players’ techniques instead of watching your Murlocks get squashed (for a change).

The Goblins vs Gnomes expansion is live now, and you can download Hearthstone for free whenever you feel like checking it out. And we both know you feel like checking it out.

Doctor Who: Legacy Celebrates One-Year Anniversary With an Advent Calendar

Posted by on December 4th, 2014
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

Christmas is a cherished holiday for all whovians as the Dr. Who Christmas Special is always a delight. Doctor Who: Legacy‘s holiday update is no different. Tiny Rebel Games, Seed Studio, and BBC Worldwide are celebrating the game’s one-year anniversary with their second annual Advent Calendar promotion. Each day they will release free daily content with brand new levels, characters, and costumes.

Another exciting announcement is that Kylie Minogue as Astrid, and Frank Skinner as Perkins, alongside some extended universe characters, will be joining the fun.

Lee Cummings, Creative Director of Tiny Rebel Games said, “When we set out to make this game, we had a very clear, very personal vision of what a Doctor Who game should be and this is what we delivered at launch of the game, but what we didn’t expect is the amazingly supportive and engaged community of players that has emerged from it – the vision for the game has evolved to become what our players want a Doctor Who game to be and it continues to evolve and grow thanks to their enthusiasm and involvement. We consider ourselves the caretakers of the game.”

Funcell 123 has announced that they will be adding the Warlords of Elantra expansion to Age of Warriors in the (hopefully near?) future. The expansion will add cross-server tournament play, online chat translation, and Touch ID for login. Now you’ll be able to fight for the Championship across servers and bet before the knockout match starts, which could net you a huge amount of gems.

While you’re owning face in the tournaments, the online chat translator will make it easier for you to talk with players all around the world and if you are serious about your security, the Touch ID will keep your game account safe and secure.

You can download Age of Warriors for free on the App Store.

[Editor’s Note: We’ve just learned that the all-inclusive and free updated version Sleeping Prince won’t be releasing until late this evening/early tomorrow. So it’s not available just yet, but will be soon. Terribly sorry if we’ve caused any confusion. – Rob]

Signal Mobile’s goofy sleepwalking simulator (note: not really a simulator), The Sleeping Price, has had a significant price drop. Now you can download the game for free. For a while.

The sale will be going on through the month of December, and will jump back up to a premium price in January. This is definitely a sale, though. It’s not a “lite” version or anything of the sort. There’s unlimited magic, no in-app purchases, and no ads. It’s just free. For, like, a month.

It’s not a permanent price drop though, so if you want to grab The Sleeping Prince before you’ll have to pay for it you should probably act now. Lest you forget and end up kicking yourself once the calendar ticks over to 2015.
