Dark Nebula Rising

At some point, in one of the reviews I wrote, maybe for A Doodle Flight, I was saying how interesting it is that the games I play the most are polished only to the point of not looking polished. I love the paper games, and the games that are stylishly funky, but I am craving some kind of highly polished iPhone game made by an experienced game designer.

Today is my lucky day I guess, as Anders Hejdenberg, the lead designer of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, has just put out a trailer for his new game, Dark Nebula: Episode 1. Anders said, “The iPhone has always intrigued me as a gaming platform, both in terms of how you can interact with it as well as what it is capable of technically. So I felt quite compelled to try it out and see what we could do with it. It was a lot of fun to come up with a new game concept with a control mechanic that feels great on the device.” Hopefully this will become more of a trend in the iPhone dev world... I'd like to at least see more cool trailers like this one. Enjoy!

Episode 1 has already been submitted to Apple, meaning that we should be seeing it around September 2012. The game should take you about an hour or two, (it looks hard to me... I'm thinking more like 2-3 hours, assuming I don't throw my phone into my pool) but there will certainly be more iterations on the way. Each one will cost $0.99, so you should plan on owning them all. Start saving your pennies now!
