Klyme is a weather app that remembers the practicalities behind why anyone would want to know what the weather’s like. It might not delve into every facet of the day’s weather report, but it’ll tell one exactly what they need to know.

klyme4klyme1It’s currently an invite-only app, so expect to wait a few days from asking for an invite until it can be used. It’ll be worth it, though. Maintaining a clean interface that ties in perfectly with iOS 7, the app is very accessible. At a glance, one can check out what the weather is like for that current time of day. A brief piece of text explains the basics as well as the temperature, while below goes into further depth. Most importantly are the tips offered such as telling one what clothing they should probably wear or whether they should take an umbrella out with them. An activities tab suggests things that might be best enjoyed during such weather, while a sentiments section gives one the heads up on how others in the area feel about it.

While I can’t see many being overly interested in what others think of the day’s weather, the rest of the sections are pretty useful. In each case, it’s possible to drag such tips around in order to share them with friends, as well as add a photo of the weather. Dragging is an important gesture here, with it also used for highlighting a specific time of day for a brief weather report. Other useful features include the ability to rotate the iOS device to its side in order to see a 7 day forecast.

klyme5Refreshingly, for a free app, there’s no limit on the amount of locations that one can save to check on later. It does beg the question as to how Klyme is funded, but for the consumer it’s a great move for practicality.

An attractive solution to knowing what to wear before heading outside, Klyme is sure to keep weather enthusiasts happy.
