Find the Way feels kind of like a dream. As players guide a pentagonal shape through a series of 12 mazes (3 mazes each on 4 different worlds) dodging obstacles and searching for artifacts, the graphics and sounds give it an otherworldly and bizarre feeling. Much as dreams often do, however, the feeling changes as the clock runs out. Suddenly, it's no longer peaceful and relaxing, but tense and strenuous.
There is a subtle balance between the two moods, but I find that the game leans too far towards the "tense and strenuous" side, thanks in large part to the ominous clock. Find the Way isn't just a race to the finish line, it's a race to find the finish line. As such, players may enjoy the feeling of urgency as they rush as quickly as possible. However, I find that it doesn't sit well with the mood created by the serene graphics and ambient music.
Along the way through each maze, players can collect blue orbs to add time to the clock while dodging red orbs that drain time away, as long as a player hovers over them. There's also an artifact to collect on each level.
A nice addition to the controls is an option to switch between tilt controls and touch controls. The tilt controls were tight and responsive, however, they require players to hold the device flat. Without an option to calibrate the device to a more upright position, I found myself tilting the screen away from me to get the pentagon to move up, making it hard to see where I was going. Fortunately, the touch controls work much better and offer a great degree of precision.
In addition to the 12 mazes, there's a "time trial" maze with leaderboard, offering players the chance to compete against each other. Overall, Find the Way is a short game, offering an interesting experience for players who don't mind rushing through as fast as possible without much opportunity to explore. The developer promises that more levels are on the way. Hopefully, more game modes are being considered, as well.
