You like the Black Eyed Peas right? You seriously have to say yes to this question otherwise this app will be utterly useless to you. To an extent BEP360 is an advert for the Peas. A very visually and technologically impressive advert but still an advert nonetheless.
The app comprises of 7 different components. Perhaps the most exciting for fans is that of the 360 Video which allows you to watch the video of ‘The Time (Dirty Bit)’ while enabling you to rotate the imagery that you see. You can do this by either swiping across your iOS device or by panning the device around the room. It’s a neat trick and means you can see plenty of different things throughout the video. The regular video is also available through the app if you don’t fancy the full 360 degree experience. The other mildly innovative thing is that of the Augmented Reality part of the app. If you point your device at the latest Black Eyed Peas’ album, you get to see a miniature Pea dance around on top of the album. It also works if you point your device at the iTunes app logo which was rather handy.
Less exciting is the Black Eyed Peas’ Twitter feed which has been spruced up to look more interesting than just the usual Twitter aesthetic. BEP Earth allows you to share photos of yourself in an effort to share the ‘love’. It’s about as exciting as it sounds sadly. There’s also the option to participate in a virtual Photo Session with the Peas. Er, quite.
There’s a slight return to form with a game that’s a simple Match Three style game and it does provide some entertainment.
So, somewhat predictably, BEP360 is no doubt fantastic for a young Black Eyed Peas fan offering some quirky bits and pieces that young teens are bound to like. The video is quite cool to participate in. Adult Peas fans however are going to be bored fast, and those who don’t like the Peas, you shouldn’t have even bothered reading this.
