Divinity: Original Sin 2
launched this week to the excitement of RPG fans everywhere. The game, which derives a lot of of its story and mechanics from old-school isometric RPGs and Dungeons & Dragons, has unseated PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds as the top-selling games on Steam for the first time pretty much all summer.

There's a lot to love about this beautiful RPG that lets you explore amazing fantasy locales and empowers player choice, but did you know there are a lot of classic RPGs in a similar vein already on iOS and Android? Here are four of our favorites.

Avernum: Escape from the Pit

Avernum is an old-school western RPG in the most traditional sense. This is a great choice for fans of games like Fallout or Planescape. Guide a party of exiles who have been sentenced to life in a punishing underworld. Plentiful job classes, spells, and abilities will guide you through this epic dark fantasy story.

Ember

This beautifully imagined isometric RPG sees you coming back to life to help save a world that has been cast into chaos. The story may be relatively derivative fantasy fare, but the writing is solid, and there's an endless array of quests to complete and treasures to collect. Combat is tactical, and players who enjoyed Baldur's Gate will feel right at home here.

Avadon: The Black Fortress

Another fantasy that has that early 90s western RPG look, Avadon sacrifices voiceacting and fancy visuals for one of the best RPG worlds and some darn good storytelling. Once you sink your teeth into this one, you probably won't be able to put it down until the credits roll.

Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition

One of the most famous PC RPGs of the late 90s finds a home on iOS, and we have to say, this remake holds up. A follow up to the Baldur's Gate saga, Icewind Dale has been noted for its complex combat and lengthy, intensive quests. If you enjoy thick fantasy tomes with 1000+ page counts, Icewind Dale is for you.
