Yes, RuneScape still exists. In fact, it's coming to iOS and Android in just a few short months. Jagex, creators of the hit fantasy MMORPG of yesteryear, is releasing RuneScape Mobile and Old School RuneScape for mobile devices, complete with crossplay with the PC version.

Since 2001, RuneScape has perservered in an area of the industry where games struggle to survive past their first year. RuneScape doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Old School RuneScape is a backup version of the game from 2007, released in 2013. The community controls further updates to the game through a polling system. RuneScape Mobile, on the other hand, presents the more "official" version of the game that is faithfully maintained by Jagex.

"The two titles will be the first mainstream and fully-established Western MMORPGs to deliver the complete MMO experience to PC and mobile platforms and feature full interoperable play, allowing players to jump from PC to mobile platforms and back again," Jagex told the press.

Old School RuneScape is slated for release later this year, with RuneScape Mobile following shortly after in winter 2018.

Are you playing RuneScape? Will you be making the jump to the mobile version?
