Pokémon GO letting you catch legendary Pokémon for the first time this weekend

You'll get your first chance to nab a legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO this weekend. As players gather in Chicago's Grant Park on Saturday, they'll get the chance to spawn the first legendary Pokémon. Trainers will have to capture enough Pokémon during the festival's Challenge Windows to trigger the event, but people world-wide can chip in to help the folks in Chicago. That won't be the last time players get a chance to catch an elusive legendary, though.

If the players in Chicago successfully defeat the first legendary Pokémon, more legendaries will begin to appear as Raid Battles on a regular basis. They'll appear as legendary eggs at gyms around the world. If players win the Raid, they'll find themselves with a shiny new legendary Pokémon. While you can use these Pokémon as you normally would in battle, you won't be able to use them to hold a gym.

Pokémon GO Fest begins at 10:00 A.M. Central Time this Saturday. If you can't be there in person, you can follow the event on YouTube and Twitch.
