App Description

This app tells the story of the influential Welsh rockers’ middle period, from 1974 to 1979 – by way of text, images and audio interview clips.

The app contains 360 images, including photos on stage, off-stage and in the studio (many of which you won't have seen before), gig flyers, ticket stubs, promotional flyers, press clippings and more.

The app includes extensive material from new interviews with Tony Bourge, Burke Shelley, Myf Isaac, Pete Boot, Graham Moloney and Bob Leth.

From 1974 to 1979, there were line-up changes aplenty and four more albums – two for MCA and two for A&M.

This app kicks off with 1974’s In For The Kill, 40 years after its release, then explores the heady heights of 1975’s chart album Bandolier, 1976’s debut for A&M, If I Were Brittania I’d Waive The Rules, and 1978’s finely crafted Impeckable.

The app includes four hours of audio interviews – with riff-master Tony Bourge, manager Graham Moloney and engineer Bob Leth.

During the 1974-79 period, Budgie spread its wings, particularly in North America – touring the States and recording in Canada at a time when punk rock had taken hold back home in Britain.

The intriguing story of Budgie’s 1974-79 period is told with equal parts candour and humour by band members, manager and engineer alike – and it’s a story of ‘respites, left turns, interludes, complications and heart palpitations.’

Read on and listen up. It’s a story that’s well worth telling!
