App Description

Mattebox Camera is the same groundbreaking camera interface from the full Mattebox. Dual stage shutter, one-touch white balance, and the first true exposure compensation dial. These simple yet powerful controls are arranged so they can be quickly adjusted with just your thumb. Because your camera shouldn't look like the console of a 747.

-------------------

If you want advanced editing features, be sure to check out Mattebox, which includes all of the features from this app (Mattebox Camera) and more. The full Mattebox allows you to create your own filter and see it live in the viewfinder.

This app is for people who are curious to try the Mattebox camera interface, or who prefer to edit in another app.

-------------------

DUAL STAGE SHUTTER
Like a high-end camera, Mattebox lets you "half-press" to quickly lock focus and exposure. Just press to lock, recompose, and slide down to take the shot. This is the absolute fastest way to perform focus and exposure compensation, because your finger never even leaves the shutter release. It also means less camera shake, and fewer blurry pictures.

ONE TOUCH WHITE BALANCE
Mattebox keeps white balance (overall color balance) locked, for consistency between shots. If you ever need to adjust it, just tap. Mattebox will neutralize the color and lock it there. Simple.

EXPOSURE DIAL
Mattebox introduced the first true exposure dial on the App Store, and now it's available in Mattebox Camera. Unlike other apps, which apply a filter to brighten or darken the image, Mattebox Camera does true exposure compensation in 1/3 stop increments.

How does it do it? Using a mathematical model of the camera's exposure sensitivity, Mattebox Camera can perform live 1024 point matrix metering. But all you need to know is that you have unprecedented control in an easy to use dial.

LONG EXPOSURE
Press the Moon icon when it appears to activate long exposures of up to 1 second. Best of all, exposure compensation still works. So for the first time, you can make extremely precise exposure adjustments with a long shutter.

SHUTTER SPEED LIMIT
This ingenious feature lets you determine your preferred minimum shutter speed. In low light conditions, Mattebox Camera will lengthen the shutter until it hits this mark. For example, if you're shooting an active subject, you can prevent the shutter from dropping below 1/20th, to reduce motion blur. Or if you have a steady hand or a static subject, you can set your limit to 1/8th, to ensure a lower ISO.

This feature allows your ISO to stay as low as possible, which results in smoother, clearer photos. And if you ever need the full range of long exposure, just tap the Moon icon.

UNCOMPRESSED TIFF
Mattebox Camera features a custom TIFF engine, for the best output possible. Under the hood, a finely tuned converter takes the most Raw format from the camera module (YCbCr), and transforms it into beautiful RGB TIFFs. Microdithering and lossless chroma interpolation allow these files to stand up to even the most extreme image adjustments.
