App Description

Number Bond Cards helps young children begin the journey to mathematical understanding.

Number Bond Cards provides a foundation for understanding addition and subtraction by moving from the concrete tens frame to the pictorial number bonds to the abstract number sentence. Students will compose and decompose numbers through 10 with understanding and fluency, laying the groundwork for later mastery of regrouping. Number bonding is recognized as a necessary tool that helps students develop mental arithmetic skills and algebraic thinking.

In level 1, students will connect the tens frames and number bond representations of the numbers 0-10. Levels 2 and 3 build on this understanding by removing the support of the tens frame and adding a sentence representation. Level 3 promotes algebraic thinking and introduces the concept of subtraction by having the student find a missing addend.
