Tested on iPod touch, iPhone4, iPhone5, iPad, iPad Air.

MIDI tools makes only sense, when you connect an external MIDI device to the iPhone/iPad (e.g. iRig MIDI). "MIDI tools" is made for monitoring incoming MIDI messages (including "system exclusive" and "real time"). Some MIDI messages are visualized with bars. "MIDI tools" is for example useful to calibrate and monitor the MIDI saxophone "Synthophone" from "Softwind Instruments".
There is also a chord and drum player function available, which allows you to easy play chords (accordion layout) or use your iPhone/iPad as a drum pad. Supported 180° rotation reducing cable problems.
See also the integrated help function.

- Important note if the "MIDI In" does not work (iOS < 8):
After changes in the iOS 6 update, it appears that when you launch a new App that uses MIDI, the MIDI device will fall offline, and the only way to reset the connection is to unplug the MIDI device and reconnect while the new App is open.
- New problem with iOS 8: When the MIDI device (like iRig MIDI) is not detected, please unplug the MIDI device, switch the iPhone/iPad/iPod completely OFF, then switch it ON and plug in the MIDI device.
