App DescriptionWhat is "Skins"?
The term Skins refers to individual holes won/loss during a 2 to 4 person match play competition. The person or team that wins the most holes (Skins) will win the competition.
This iPhone App (PlaySkins) closely resembles the Skins Game played on the PGA Tour but without the big $$$, and with a few twists.
How Skins are Played?
. There are 18 skins (holes) to be won in a competition - one for each hole.
. Two Tie-All Tie. This means that if two or more players tie for the low score on a hole (called "halving" the hole), the skin is carried over to the next hole. That means if there is an one skin carryover, then the next hole is worth two skins.
. Carryovers continue until only one player wins the hole, thus winning all the carryover skins.
What Twists Are In This App?
. "Press" is allowed. If you know how to play "Nassau", then you know how it fundamentally works. Each "Press" means that the value of each skin is doubled from the next hole forward. For example, if a "Press" occurs on hole #5 for hole #6 and onward, then each hole, starting on hole #6, will be worth 2 skins. Subsequent "Presses" simply doubles the skins per hole once again. So, if a second Press occurs on hole #9 to start on hole #10, then hole #10 to hole #18 are worth 4 skins each.
. "Halving" the 18th Hole. In a live Skins game (on the PGA Tour), there is a playoff. There is no playoff calculation in this App. However, if you wanted to carry on with a playoff in your live competition, then simply score the 18th hole appropriately with the winner of the playoff.
. Handicaps can be used. In the live Skins game, they are all professionals so they do not use handicaps. Handicaps are calculated off the low handicapper in the competition.
. Team Play. During Team Play, the lowest score on each team will be used to determine which team wins the hole (skin).
. "Low Total" Option. When playing teams, this option can be turned on to calculate the total score for each team where the lowest team total score wins the hole (skin). This means that each competition will have 36 possible skins (assuming without Presses). BIG NOTE: this option can only be played with 4 players and with 2 vs 2.
ANOTHER BIG NOTE: Press can occur on any hole except on the 18th hole. Be sure to use this option as appropriate because the totals at the end could be very, very big. I mean if you pressed 17 times, then the last hole is worth – 131,072 skins. Not really a fun game when you press like that. I would suggest Press only when down by 2 to 3 skins.
The goal is to win the most Skins, and be crowned Skins Champion.
