App Description

This easy-to-use app allows you to calculate your risk of cardiovascular disease over 10 years. Compared to other applications that calculate heart risk, our app uses non-laboratory values that can be easily acquired to perform this calculation. This application is intended to be used as an educational tool for both patients and doctors to assess how changes in ones risk factors influence their risk of cardiovascular disease. All health decisions should be made in consultation with your doctor - we do not take any responsibility for harm derived from this app. Cardiovascular disease is defined as a composite of coronary heart disease (coronary death, myocardial infarction [heart attack], coronary insufficiency, angina), cerebrovascular disease (stroke, transient ischemic attack) and peripheral artery disease (intermittent claudication).

This app is based on data collected from the Framingham Heart Study and published by D'Agostino et al. in the journal Circulation (2008). For more information visit the official Framingham website.

This app was created by Mark Barszczyk, MD (cand.), MSc. Mark is a fourth year medical student at the University of Toronto who has a passion for health-oriented mobile apps. Please leave a review and let us know what you think of the app!
